The Embroidery School

The School of Art Embroidery, founded in 1995 by Pascal Jaouen and taken over by Yann Lagoutte in 2023, is dedicated to collecting traditional embroidery stitches, preserving clothing heritage, and passing on the techniques of master embroiderers through its courses and workshops.

The School’s teaching team, including two Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (Best Craftsmen of France), teaches color, white, and Breton embroidery in both traditional and contemporary styles to approximately 2,000 students across 30 course locations: Quimper, Brest, Saint-Brieuc, Lorient, Vannes, Rennes, Angers, Nantes, Saint-Nazaire, as well as Paris, Lyon, and Orléans.

It teaches everyone, from beginners to enthusiasts, Glazig embroidery, passé empiétant, white embroidery, antique openwork… and offers regular weekly, biweekly, or monthly courses from September to June. The team also runs workshops periodically in other major cities throughout France.

The quality and uniqueness of its teaching, along with its talent for revisiting antique embroidery techniques, particularly Glazig embroidery, attract a wide audience, especially since the instructors, demanding in terms of work quality, explain stitches step by step and provide individual guidance to students as they complete their study pieces.

The School also houses Baradoz-Paradis, a Textile Art and High Embroidery Exhibition space that welcomes textile artists and craftspeople from all backgrounds, to discover, compare, and explore other techniques and ways of working. It offers visitors a panorama of glazik and Glazig embroidery, between tradition and modernity, traditional costume pieces from all countries and eras, and High Embroidery garments created by Yann Lagoutte’s team under the name Kollecif EDB.
